Piney Island

Before becoming part of the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge, this area around Piney Island was best known for its plentify duck and water fowl hunting opportunities. Today it provides a safe haven for ducks and many other birds. This paddle provides a view of seagrass beds, sabal palms and many bird varieties.

 

The paddle trail may be in protected waters, but it is recommended for novice to intermediate skills level due to various water depths and sudden wind changes.
