Mashes Sands
From white sandy beaches to oak thickets, this route meanders through a transition zone where salt marsh, spring karst features, and sand hills meet. This adventure is a great route for birding and photo opportunities. Paddlers with a keen eye will be able to spot the old "cat faces", remenants of the areas turpentining efforts. You may even spot a manatee munching on the sea grass, or see dolphins fishing for their dinner.
