Blackwater River Paddle n Camp

The Blackwater River in North Florida is so named because of its dark tannin stained waters. Despite its dark water, many spots along the river are clear enough to see through to the sandy bottom. The sandy white beaches that are located around each bend provide plentiful resting spots and are a beautiful contrast to the darkened waters. The river boasts not only sandy beaches but also high bluffs and forests of longleaf pine.

We will camp within Blackwater River state forest at one of the many recreation areas. Each site is rated for tents only and provide running water at each site. Electrical is not available at the sites. However, the campground boasts two bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers readily available to campers.

At camp, the lake offers several options for additional adventures such as fishing*, kayaking, and hiking.
